About Me

Michelle Bergamo

I am New Jersey-based playwright and screenwriter who enjoys writing contemporary human comedies with complex female protagonists.

I've spent most of my life living with anxiety disorder and it’s a subject that’s explored in many of my stories.

After graduating from Rutgers University, I spent 12 years working at the prestigious George Street Playhouse before leaving to pursue a writing career.

My stage play “Turned On” was selected to be part of Fringe NYC (The NY International Fringe Festival) and had five performances in Manhattan in October 2018. It also had two previous readings: New Playwrights Series at Villagers Theater (Somerset, NJ) in June 2018 and Holmdel Theatre Company (Holmdel, NJ) in March 2018.

My stage play "Baby Steps" made it into the Final Round of the 2017 She NYC Festival (Off-Broadway) and had two NJ readings: self-produced at George Street Playhouse in February 2017 (featuring Tony-nominee Mary Testa) and Holmdel Theatre Company in August 2016.

My stage play “Buying Time” had a reading at Holmdel Theatre Company in February 2020 and was a finalist in Screencraft’s Stage Play contest.

I also write holiday family-friendly feature scripts with a partner, Michele Giannusa. Our script "Miss Christmas Daisy" was a finalist in the 2017 PAGE Awards in the Family Film Script Category, an Official Selection for the 2016 International Family Film Festival and a Semi-Finalist in Screencraft's 2017 Family-Friendly Screenplay Contest.

I currently work part-time at Designer Greetings in Edison, NJ where I have written over 2000 greeting cards.
